Here is a story from 9 year old Hunter who caught a
Bass a lot of us "older" folks can only dream of. I
suspect Mom helped him write it but he did dictate
the tale. How great is this!

JERRY DISE
MONTH CAUGHT: MARCH 07
Jerry lives in Golden Acres.
One sunny spring break it was early at 5:00 in the morning. My dad woke me up to go fishing. We got
our fishing poles, a giant bag of baits and some fruit. We headed around the corner to pick up my
grandpa. He was still sleeping when we got there, we had to knock hard to wake him up. Finally, we
woke him up. He got dressed and we helped him carry his fishing poles down the steep hill to the
boat. I carried the tackle box down the steep hill and two fishing ploes. I put my life jacket on and we
headed out. We went out to a flat where its's shallow.

After a couple of hours we started to catch fish. My grandpa caught one and I had 2 and my dad
caught five. We were fishing maybe another 2 or 3 hours. The fish turned off and we didn't get
another bite. I thought they didn't like the bait I had on.

I casted one more time right in the middle of no where. As soon as it hit the water I clicked the real
and I felt a fish take it. I set the hook hard. "Do you think I set it hard enough?" I started to real it in
and the bend on the rod got bigger. I got it right by the boad and it made a big splash. My dad netted
it and the hook fell out of its mouth. We weighed it and it weighed about 8 pounds. My dad weighed it
again and it said 9 pounds and 3 ounces. My dad asked me how hard did that fish fight? I said it felt
like I had a live brick on my hook!

What a great day of fishing with my dad and grandpa. Now its their turn to try and break my record. I
am having my fish mounted so I can hang it on our wall at our lake house. We have a lot of fish there
now, most my dads, one my sisters and one mine. But none as big as this.

It would be a serious question
as to who was more excited. I
talked with "Dad" and he may
have edged Hunter out!
This is the last fish Hunter sent
me. He has come a long way!
